So, this also contains an extra religion just to fluff it up so it would work.
One thing I noticed is that the mod was ironically too simple for the code - with the dll removed, Active AI Diplomacy is literally an empty mod, and that didn't work. Not sure why, it just doesn't like whatever I did.Ĭlick to expand. Will look at other stuff later, but actually yes on the Active AI Diplomacy, and I happen to have the files lying around: !iF82larL!3bc1mg4S8YWZxdXEPUO7S2D_TKT8tUcESFDbsTKLp2Q Oh, the Polish Empire is abit broken though. I think now I'm no longer being a snide "this the best you got?" jerk about the plot, I'm more open to appreciating it.īut yeah.I finally got this to work! It is just a basic compilation of the 5 star mods from the workshop, with afew missing due to incompatiblities. Not only am I enjoying the gameplay a ton more this time around (I've died lots and used ample profanity, a sure sign I'm having fun), I am also liking the story and characters more as well.
My farthest playthrough was up to recruiting Setzer but I really don't remember much of anything. I just defeated Kefka and his team in Narshe and am off to find Terra. Someone told me to try BNW because they knew I love mods/hacks (what the hell is the difference anyway?!) and they felt that it would keep my interest peaked so I could actually finish the game finally. After years of having it talked up as this masterpiece of storytelling, I looked at Gau or the Phantom Train and was like "you're joking, right?"īut i randomly felt the urge to finally correct this terrible oversight in my FF fandom. With VI, not only was it boring as fuck, I was a bit of a condescending jerk. I have played V and VI and made decent progress in both but ultimately abandoned them due to lack of interest. Heretic that I am, I have beaten FFII-IV and VII-XIII-2. Hooray!)Īt present, I am playing a hack called Final Fantasy VI: Brave New World. Then I played a hack and mod called Alternate Fantasy IX that made a lot of little changes and increased difficulty and overall made the game a whole lot better. Final Fantasy IX was always a game I loved for the story but hated the gameplay.
That was until I played a hack called Requiem that demands you understand the Refining system or else you won't even bet the second boss. Final Fantasy VIII for instance was so easy and broken that I never truly appreciated the depth of the Refining system.
Playing mods that "reinvigorate" the battle system has helped me enjoy a lot of games. Now I don't have to neuter myself to have some challenge, I am forced to use all the tools at my disposal to survive and succeed. This is where difficulty mod sand hacks come in. I would prefer, rather than narrowing my options, to have all my options be necessary. But the thing is, I don't really like any of those. Low-level runs are also pretty popular for JRPG enthusiasts. Beat FFX with no Sphere Grid or just one character, that kind of thing. So I mostly play JRPGs and in the crowd I talk to online, the way a lot of people keep things "fresh" is Challenge Runs.
